Digital/Physical Pairs imagined by AI and painted by robots.
As the robot paints on a canvas, it’s camera is continually recording the progress that it is making. More than 24 algorithms analyze the imagery live and vote on what brushstroke to make next.
Similar to how artist Paul Klee describes the creative process as a feedback loop, where a painter makes a mark, analyzes the mark, then makes the next mark based on the analysis, this robot creates each painting one brush stroke at a time in an often unpredictable manner.
In the following video for example, we can see a time-lapse where every single aesthetic decision from selecting the best image from a photo shoot, to changing styles half way through, to deciding with the painting it done, is accomplished by the robot.
The Picture-In-Picture on bottom right is a glimpse into its creative mind and decision making. It is a live view of the image it is chasing.
